Toward a Simplified Arc Impingement Model in a Direct-Current Electric Arc Furnace

A 2D axisymmetric two-phase model was developed to study the effect of an arc impingement on liquid metal inside electric furnace. In addition flow dynamics, covered heat transfer and magneto hydrodynamics metal. Through a parametric study, three different parameters were considered predict most important factors affecting overall behaviour process: gap, density gas, total current. Understanding these can show key altering dynamics. The showed that applied current parameter influenced depth mixing strength bath directly proportional in initial gap distance found be crucial for sustaining continuous stable arc. value gas very velocity profile; however, it had no significant depth. This constant could used instead varying with temperature increase computational efficiency. assessed effects aforementioned depth, magnitude, stability. conclusions acquired challenges are also presented.
